Former Priestley Students

Below are just a selection of our high performing former students from the last two years.

2011 Leavers

Sade came to Priestley from Woolston High and in her first year obtained an A grade AS Level in Physics. Moving into her second year, she then focussed on three A-Levels and obtained an A* in History, A in Biology and A in Chemistry. Sade is now at Manchester University studying Chemistry.

Jess Baxter
Jess was a former pupil at Cardinal Newman and went on to study four A-Levels. She obtained an A* grade in Biology, A grades in Chemistry and Psychology and a B in English Literature. Jess is now at Manchester University studying Biomedical Science with Industrial Experience.

Robin Brabham
Robin came to Priestley from Penketh High and achieved some remarkable results. In his first year, he obtained an A grade in AS Level Further Maths and in his second year completed 5 A-Levels. Four of these in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics were all A* grades, whilst he also landed an A in German. Robin is now studying Chemistry at York University.

Ian arrived at Priestley from Birchwood High and went on to obtain three A* grades at A-Level in Physics, Maths and Electronics. He also obtained a B in Computing and has now moved to Southampton University to study Physics.

Emma came to Priestley from Bridgewater High and went on to obtain 4 straight A grades in Biology, Chemistry, History and Maths. Emma has now moved on to study Dentistry at Liverpool University.

Rachel came to Priestley from Cardinal Newman and landed double A* grades in English Language and English Literature. She also obtained an A in History and a B in Philosophy. At the end of her studies, she opted to take a gap year, ahead of University.

Jack came to Priestley from Woolston High School and in his final year studied A-Levels in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, obtaining 4 straight A grades. Jack then moved on to study Biomedical Sciences at Manchester University.

Rachel came to Priestley from William Beamont High School and opted to tackle a BTEC programme in Sports Performance and Excellence. She went on to obtain a triple distinction to go alongside her D grade in A-Level Biology. Rachel is now studying at Liverpool John Moores University.

Hayley came to Priestley from Bridgewater and by the end of her first year had already completed a full A-Level in Drama, graded at B. In her second year, she completed 4 further A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and German, obtaining an A*, two As and a C. Hayley is now studying Aeronautics & Astronautics at Southampton University.

Adam came to Priestley from Sir Thomas Boteler and went on to obtain 3 A* grades in Chemistry, Maths and Physics as well as an A in Further Maths. Adam is now at Manchester University studying Physics.

Simon came to Priestley from Woolston High and landed double A grades at A-Level in Law and History. Simon also obtained a B grade in Business Studies and departed to study Law at The University of Liverpool.

Ben came to Priestley from Newton High and obtained 4 A-levels in Electronics (A*), Maths (A), Physics (A) and Computing (B). He has now moved on to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering at The University of Manchester.

Kamil came to Priestley from Birchwood High and went on to land 4 A-Levels. He excelled in Electronics with an A* and also obtained straight A grades in Maths, Physics and Polish. Kamil has now moved to Manchester University to study Electronic Engineering.

Rachel Sewell
Rachel came to Priestley from Frodsham College and went on to obtain 4 A-Levels. Three were A grades in Biology, 3D Design and Chemistry, whilst Rachel also got a B in Maths. She is now studying Biotechnology at Manchester University.

Amy came to Priestley from Cardinal Newman and landed straight A grades in History, Maths and Politics to go alongside an A* grade in her AS Level Extended Project. Amy has now moved on to The University of York to study History.

Sam came to Priestley from Lymm High and went on to obtain 3 straight A grades in Biology, Electronics and Physics as well as a B grade in Chemistry. Sam has now moved on to study Biological Sciences at The University of Liverpool.

2010 Leavers

Mohamed Adel
Mohamed came to Priestley from Penketh High and went onto study the BTEC National Diploma in ICT, where he had a merit, pass and pass profile. He also completed an A-Level an Arabic which was graded at A*. Mohamed also completed his Duke of Edinburgh Award and was part of the Aviation enrichment programme. He departed Priestley to study at John Moores University in Liverpool.

Joel Beavon
Joel came to Priestley from the Grange Comprehensive. In his first year he completed AS Levels in Media and Law, obtaining A grades in both and in his second year completed the BTEC National Diploma programme in Performing Arts at triple distinction level. Joel also landed an A grade A-Level in English and regularly took part in enrichment activities including Driving Theory and the Performing Arts groups. At the end of his stay he went onto study at the Arden School of Musical Theatre.

Kerry came to Priestley from Penketh High School and in her first year obtained and A grade AS Level in Science in Society. Moving into her second year, she went onto complete A-Levels in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths and obtained two A* grades, one A and one B. Kerry also attended extra workshops for Science and Maths and represented her tutor group in various College quizzes. Kerry then departed for the University of Nottingham.

Miles came to Priestley from Woolston High and went onto land three straight A* grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics alongside an A grade in German. Miles also had an A grade AS Level in Spanish from his first year. He was subsequently able to accept a place at The University of Warwick to study Maths.

Simon came to Priestley from Lysander and went onto obtain two A* grades and two A grades in Maths, Physics, Further Maths and Chemistry. He subsequently departed for Loughborough University to study Mechanical Engineering.

Nicola Delaney
Nicola came to Priestley from Bridgewater High and obtained an A* grade in English Language and A grades in French and Maths. Nicola also completed an AS-Level in Spanish in her first year, graded at A and was able to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award whilst at College. Nicola departed for the University of Leeds to study French and Linguistics.

Leon came to Priestley from Halton High and went onto obtain an A*, two A grades and one B having studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Psychology. Leon also completed the Duke of Edinburgh Award whilst at College and left Priestley to study Maths at Liverpool University with a long term view of moving into teaching.

Victoria came to Priestley from Sir Thomas Boteler and went onto obtain an A* in Archaeology and straight A grades in History, Geography and Geology. Victoria was also a member of the History Society and left Priestley for Cardiff University to study Archaeology.

Joseph Gilmour-Rees
Joseph came to Priestley from Bridgewater High and landed a very impressive set of results including two A* A-levels in French and Drama. He also obtained an A grade A-level in English Literature and an A grade in AS Level Spanish. A member of the Respiration Theatre Company Joseph opted for a gap year, teaching English in primary schools in France before moving onto Leeds University to study French and Chinese.

Katy came to Priestley from Bridgewater High and went onto land an A* grade in Dance, two A grades in Maths and Psychology and one B grade in Economics. Katy was also part of the Oxygen Dance Company and the Aromatherapy Enrichment course. She departed for The University of Leeds to Study Mathematics with Finance.

Anthony came to Priestley from Newton High School and completed the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, landing a triple distinction. Anthony also obtained an A grade A-Level in Dance and was part of the enrichment programmes for Performing Arts – Pulse and Oxygen. Anthony left Priestley for the Laban School of Contemporary Dance in London.

Zoe came to Priestley from Great Sankey and went onto study Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry at A-Level. She was able to obtain two A* grades and one A grade before accepting a place at Nottingham University to study Maths.

Rory came to Priestley from Bridgewater and went onto obtain an A* grade and three straight A grades in Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Rory subsequently departed Priestley for The University of Manchester to study Physics.

Gavan came to Priestley from Bridgewater High and landed an A* in Archaeology, A in English Literature, A in Law and B in History. He was also a member of the Debating Society. Gavan opted to take a year out before applying for University in 2011.

Osarume came to Priestley from St Gregory’s High School and went onto excel in all of his programmes. In fact he landed straight A grades in Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. To enrich his studies Osarume also took part in the Sign Language and Driving Theory enrichment programmes and decided to take a year out before pursuing his next step.

Hannah came to Priestley from Woolston and in her first year completed AS-levels in World Development (B) and Spanish (C). In her final year she then completed A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry, obtaining straight A grades in the process. Hannah left to study Maths at Nottingham University.

Nicola Parkinson
Nicola came to Priestley from St Chad’s and went onto obtain three straight A grades at A-Level in Maths, Chemistry and Biology to go alongside an A grade AS Level in Geology from her first year. Nicola regularly took part in extra workshop sessions for her courses and was able to accept a place at Manchester University to study Zoology.

Simon came to Priestley from Lysander High and went onto obtain four straight A* grades in History, English Literature, Biology and Chemistry. Simon also opted to tackle the Extended Project where he obtained another A*. As well as being a member of the College Council, Simon was also involved with the History Society, Christian Union and completed the Duke of Edinburgh Award. He departed for Cambridge University.

Louis came to Priestley from Woolston High School and in his final year landed a highly impressive three A* grades in Maths, Electronics and Physics. He also obtained an A grade in Further Maths and a C grade AS Level in Critical Thinking. He left to study Astrophysics at the University of Manchester.

Rebecca Rea
Rebecca came to Priestley from Great Sankey and went onto obtain straight A grades in Maths, Chemistry and ICT. Rebecca also had two A grade AS Levels In Biology and Further Maths from her first year and enriched her studies by taking the Aromatherapy programme. She departed for the University of Nottingham with a long term plan of becoming a teacher.

Warren came to Priestley from Fairfield High and went onto excel in Law, Sociology and Business with one A* grade and two A grades. Warren was also one of many students to benefit from an overseas study trip to Egypt and departed Priestley for The University of Liverpool to study Law with the long term plan of becoming a Solicitor.

Magda Ropiak
Magda arrived at College from her native Poland and worked her way up from foundation level in her first year to A-Levels in her final year. Magda was able to obtain an A grade AS Level in Polish and an E grade in Maths. At A-Level, she then obtained two D grades and one E in Chemistry, Psychology and Biology. A keen sportswoman, Magda represented England at Volleyball and went onto accept a place at Northumbria University.

Rachel came to Priestley from Birchwood High and obtained three A grade A-Levels in Physics, Biology and Chemistry. She also obtained a B grade A-Level in Maths and an A grade AS Level in Geology. She left Priestley for Liverpool University to study Oceans and Climate Science.

Jodie came to Priestley from Culcheth High and completed the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts and A-Level Dance. She went onto obtain a triple distinction and an A grade. During her time at Priestley she was also involved in numerous enrichment projects including Pulse, Oxygen, Fit to Dance and Breathe. Jodie departed for a place at the prestigious Laban School of Cotemporary Dance in London.

Matthew came to Priestley from Sir Thomas Boteler. A language all rounder, he went onto study Spanish, German and French at A-Level, obtaining an A* and two A grades. He left Priestley for the University of Manchester to study French and Spanish.

Phil came to Priestley from Penketh High and went onto land three A* grades in Law, History and Politics. Phil also secured an A grade in Economics to go alongside a C grade AS-Level in Critical Thinking from his first year. Phil was Vice President of the College Council, a role that saw him represent the student voice at Governing Body level. He also took part in the Mock Trial competition and departed to study Law at Durham.

Thomas came to Priestley from The Grange and in his final year completed A-Levels in Geography, Sociology, Archaeology and French. He was able to obtain 3 straight A grades and one B. Thomas also studied an enrichment course in Basic Italian and went onto accept a place at Keele University to study Human Geography and Sociology.
