Priestley - A Beacon College

In May 2007 Priestley College was awarded Beacon status and became one of a group of elite colleges in the country. This prestigious award was given to the College as a result of its Outstanding OFSTED report in March 2007. It is also recognition of the hard work, high standards and pursuit of excellence of all its staff and students.

In its role as a Beacon College Priestley works with other colleges in the sector to share excellent practice and improve their performance. Since May 2007 we have worked with several institutions on projects ranging from developing their Performing Arts provision to extending their Professional Development programme and systems.

Priestley has also successfully bid for two Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) Innovation Projects. These focus on further raising our excellent student achievement and increasing the sharing of innovative and creative teaching and learning across the curriculum. These 2 year projects are only half way through but already there have been very positive results. We have already shared the outcomes so far with other colleges and at the end of the project the final results will not only improve our own support for Priestley students but also form part of a national database.
