The Learner Voice at Priestley

Learner Voice at Priestley

Priestley College is always looking at ways to listen and then respond to issues raised by students and to this end, Principal, Mike Southworth regularly holds student Surgery sessions.

In line with the Learner Voice Agenda, students are able to raise any issues about life at College in order to get their point across and have their voices heard.

In addition to the already well established elected Student and College Councils, the Surgery allows students to go along and have an informal chat with Mike and ask him a whole range of questions on issues that concern them.

Wherever it is possible the Principal then acts on the feedback received and initiates
change.

As well as Mike, Fran Evans (Director of Student Services) and representatives from the College Council are also present at each Surgery.

At the latest session held in April 2011, students questioned the Principal over student ID lanyards, EMAs, travel, computing equipment and catering.
