Head of Student Services The
Student Services area of College is run by experienced and friendly
business support staff. Our Student Services area is located in the
Crescent Building. Here you can get information on a variety of issues
such as the Education Maintenance Allowance, College Counselling, Bus
Passes, Careers and Higher Education. Your personal tutor is there to help you during your time at College. Your Personal Tutor will be your adviser in College. They monitor your attendance and will regularly discuss with you your methods of working, career ambitions and any difficulties you care to share with her or him. Your progress is monitored using information that is regularly passed to your personal tutor from subject tutors. Students follow a comprehensive Tutorial Programme in the weekly tutorial sessions. The activities in the programme are all designed to prepare you for experiences both here and after you have left College. Your personal tutor will also advise and guide you on the range of courses offered on our Enrichment Programme. An Enrichment course can broaden your curriculum/student experience and enhance a CV, as well as being great fun. All students are assigned to a Senior Tutor who will review your academic progress, finalise any references and advise and guide you about any serious difficulties. Personal tutors/Senior Tutors are the first point of contact for parents/guardians. If you have any personal issues or difficulties you can always speak to your personal tutor. We do, however, have a qualified Counsellor who offers a confidential service to all students. For example, if you have stress related difficulties, bereavement issues or relationship worries, our College Counsellor is there to help. The
Guidance Officer and Connexions Personal Adviser are able to help you
on a variety of issues concerning all aspects your progression at College.
They are able to offer a comprehensive careers service including Careers
information, advice and guidance on Higher Education. They will help
you in your choice of university and course, the application itself,
financial matters and clearing. If you are looking for employment they
will help with finding job vacancies and in developing skills such as
CV writing, letters of application and interviews. Our adviser can also
help you to get a part-time job that will fit around the hours your
are at College. They will help you with basic financial budgeting and
can also help on referral to benefits or welfare rights agencies. |
