What you will study
You will build your confidence and skills in a broad range of Art and Design disciplines including drawing, painting, textiles, ceramics, photography and illustration.
You will begin to focus on your chosen pathway in term 2.
Year 2 offers the choice of either a Fine Art pathway or Design based Fashion/Textiles pathway.
You will build a personal and unique professional-standard portfolio representing your diverse breadth of skills. With live briefs and public exhibition opportunities, this course allows you to immerse yourself in a creative environment, learning not only practical skills, but the ability to promote yourself in preparation for university or a career within the creative industries.
How you will be assessed
Three coursework projects assessed throughout each year
Final Major Project determines overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction
Year 1 for Diploma, Year 2 for Extended Diploma
Progression
This course could lead to careers in the creative industries including; Fine Art, Fashion, Architecture , Interior Design, Illustration, Textiles, Fashion Promotion, 3D Crafts, Gallery and Curating amongst others.
Priestley Extra
As well as working in the studios you will be encouraged to participate in research trips and gallery visits to support your studies. As part of your course you will have the opportunity to talk to visiting speakers from university and from industry about careers and courses. You will be taught by specialist staff who share their expertise in your classes.
