- You have a passion for performing and learning about a wide range of popular music styles including Rock ‘n’ Roll, Britpop, Motown and Rock.
- You enjoy writing your own music and learning how the industry works.
- Course is equivalent to one A-Level and can be combined with other Music courses.
WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
This course aims to help you develop both performance and theoretical aspects of the subject. You will take part in individual instrumental or vocal lessons and regular group rehearsals, which will culminate in numerous live performances and multi-track recordings throughout the year. You will also study solo performance, music theory, song-writing and industry roles and organisations.
HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED
Coursework. It is important to note that although there are no written exams, your written work will be an essential part of your course and strict deadlines will be set for handing in these assignments.
Students who study BTEC Music have in the past gone on to study Music Performance, Music Technology and Music Production at university. Other avenues could include Media and Broadcasting, Business, Marketing and Management. The many possible employment opportunities include working as a performer, producer or technician, or as a journalist.
