Congratulations to the 24 students who completed the Youth Mental Health Awareness course, which was delivered by Imagine Independence.
The course covered a number of topics including:
- What is mental health?
- Protective and risk factors for mental health
- The impact of stigma and discrimination on students’ mental health
- Protective and risk factors case studies
- Understanding self-harm and suicide
- Signs and symptoms of mental ill health in young people
- The stress Container
- Conversations and signposting to professional and self-help
- Self-awareness and self-care
Throughout the day there were group activities with lots of time to chat and explore ideas.
“I was very impressed by the students’ desire to understand more about mental health and link the learning within the context of their own lives,” said Campaigns and Partnerships Officer Anthony Dowell, who led the course.
“Imagine are greatly honoured to be involved in such an important part of the wellbeing of students at Priestly College.”
