STUDENTS scaled new heights during a team building exercise at an outdoor pursuits centre.
This year’s Public Services cohort at Priestley College travelled to Rock and River Outdoor Pursuits in Lancashire where they took part in challenges on water and dry land.
Among the obstacles to overcome was a 40ft pole – a tall order for Ellie Knight who is afraid of heights.
“I had a few goes at it, but in the end I conquered my fear,” said the former Cardinal Newman pupil.
“I never thought I’d be able to do it, but everybody’s support helped me.”
As well as climbing the students canoed and kayaked on the lake and completed several challenges that put their team working skills to the test.
Tutor Paul Mackinnon said it was a regular activity that took place at the start of every year.
“It’s a great way for students who might not have met before because they went to different high schools to get to know one another.
“It breaks down any barriers and builds teamwork and confidence.”
