This Level 2 Certificate can lead to other sports courses and additional qualifications such as in First Aid, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, umpiring qualifications and the TQUK Level 1 Award in Volunteering. You will benefit from our partnerships with Warrington Wolves, Warrington Schools Partnership, Livewire and Active Soccer.
Reasons to study this course
The Level 2 Certificate in Sport is a vocational stepping stone into the sports industry. The course is equivalent to two GCSEs and gives you the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques essential for success in the sports industry. On completion many students progress on to a Level 3 BTEC or an A-Level programme, apprenticeships or employment.

What you will study
You will study a mixture of internal and external units. The externally-assessed units cover fitness for sport and exercise and anatomy and physiology for sports performance. Internally-assessed optional units will include; Practical Sport, leading sports activities, training for personal fitness, lifestyle and well-being, injury and the sports performer and profiling sport performance.

On completion of the course at merit grade you have the opportunity to apply for Level 3 progression within Priestley choosing from a selection of AS and BTEC courses. There will also be the opportunity to gain information on apprenticeships as well as employment opportunities.

Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to undertake a variety of specialised study visits, interact with guest speakers, residential experiences and a range of practical activities, to complement your programme of study. We also encourage students to gain work-based and volunteering experience in the local community. We provide a number of opportunities to do so with Warrington School Sports Partnership.
