UPDATE: Halton Borough Transport

Wednesday 11.30am UPDATE

We can now confirm ticketing and pricing arrangements for those who use Warrington’s Own Buses 62 and 62a services.

Weekly and monthly tickets can be purchased by registering and paying on Warrington’s Own Buses Touch and Go App, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on your Android phone or the App Store on your iphone.

Students must use their college email address when registering to prove they are Priestley students and under 21 years old.  This will ensure that tickets are validated and issued quickly without the need to verify your identity at the Travel Centre.

Weekly tickets cost £17 for those under 21 (Select ‘Under 21 Weekly’ ticket).  The college will subsidise these tickets and refund students £4 of this weekly cost.

Monthly tickets cost £60 for those under 21 and also cover holiday periods (Select ‘Under 21 Monthly’ ticket). The college will subsidise these tickets and refund students £8 of this monthly cost.

All weekly and monthly ticket refunds should be claimed from the college cash office on or after the three dates outlined below, with proof of payment and the details of the bank account that funds are to be paid into:

  1. Friday 3rd April
  2. Friday 22nd May
  3. Friday 26th June

Final claims must be made by no later than Friday 10th July

The college will subsidise the cost of a five-month ticket (full price £300) for those who travel from Halton. Priestley students can purchase this ticket for £260 by registering via the link below and making payment at the college cash office before 12pm this Friday (31st January). This ticket also covers holiday periods and will expire on 30th June.  Having registered and paid, students will be able to collect tickets from the cash office.

The college will purchase a five-month ticket for all Halton students who register via the above link and are in receipt of bursary funding.

Tuesday 12.04pm UPDATE

We have been informed that Halton Bus Passes issued by college are not being accepted on Arriva buses. Following the closure of Halton Transport, Arriva have introduced new services including the 14A, 61, 62, 200 and 17. Students who need to use these services to transfer to Warrington bound 62 and 62A services (operated by Warrington’s Own Buses) are able to purchase Weekly Saver Tickets at £12.70 or daily at £3.50 directly from Arriva.  Any students who receive bursary or additional funding for transport to college and need to use these Arriva services should speak to Kim Payton at the Senior Tutor Reception. Please visit the Arriva website or download the Arriva App, for real time travel information relating to Arriva services.

Monday 12.04pm UPDATE

Students with a valid Halton Bus Pass, including those issued by the college, will be able to use these on Arriva North West Services until 14th February.  Please visit www.arrivabus.co.uk for more information about routes. The public buses are not just for our student use and our understanding is that routes cannot be changed by any bus company that takes over the services.

Monday 11.20pm UPDATE

Students holding any Halton bus passes can use them on the 62 and 62a services until the end of this week. If any student has a Halton bus pass that expires before Friday, please ask them to visit the cash office in the Priestley Building to extend their pass to the end of the week. This will ensure students benefit from the discounted ticket price originally negotiated with Halton Transport. We will continue to provide updates about any revised ticketing arrangements and prices when we know more.

Saturday 12pm UPDATE –

Warrington’s Own Buses have made some minor changes to the 62 service. Please see the updated timetable below.

Students holding any Halton bus passes will be able to use them on the 62 and 62a services. We would ask students to keep hold of any unused Halton passes.

We will be holding a meeting with students who use the 62 services on Monday at 9am in P1.16. We will be asking for their feedback and providing the latest information, including our plans to agree revised ticketing and pricing arrangements.

At this time we have no further information, but will keep people informed of any further updates via the website.

Friday morning –

We are aiming to provide a comprehensive update on the situation regarding Halton Borough Transport at 3pm today.

If there are any students in college today who are worried about getting home because some buses on their routes are not running please report to Student Services by 3pm so that we can make alternative arrangements for you.

Any current Halton passes will be valid for use next week on any Warrington’s Own Bus services that will operate on the 62 route.

There will be a bus operating on the 62 route on Monday starting at Ditton, Baguley Avenue arriving in Stockton Heath for 8.41 and a return journey leaving Wilderspool Causeway at approximately 16.12  This will follow the normal 62 route at those times.

We are awaiting confirmation of other times on this route.

We will be holding a meeting with students using Halton Services on Monday at 9am in P1.16 to get direct feedback on the situation and to explain what we are doing to support them at this time.
