Wheels turn for RAF charities

Normally the Wicked Café is a place where students go to chill, enjoy a Starbucks and chat with friends.Public Services fundraising web

But on Tuesday a group of Public Services students took over a corner of the café and cycled more than 600 miles.

Their efforts were in support of the RAF who are backing Manchester Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital this Christmas.

“It was a great team effort that they carried out in good spirit,” said Tutor Chris Seaton.

“It was all for a good cause so everyone got behind us and it was a fun challenge to be involved in.”

The first cyclists ‘set off’ at 8.30am and the challenge of riding the distance of Land’s End to John O’Groats was completed by 4pm.

Money raised will buy presents which will be collected from Priestley and delivered to the hospitals in December by RAF helicopter.

The amount raised will be added up and revealed this week.
