THREE students from Priestley were celebrating after winning a regional First Aid competition.
Lavinia Burcea, Gabriella Francioli and Ryan Pennington, who all study Protective Services, won the North Region First Aid Competition, representing the Greater Manchester Wing as part of 70 Croft and Culcheth Squadron.
“I found it stressful but we all worked together and came through in first place so it was all good,” said Gabriella, who is planning to become an RAF medic.
The team were in competition with 32 other squadrons and said they found the competition challenging, but knew they could rely on their teammates throughout.
“It was stressful, but I had faith in my team,” said Lavinia.
Both students said they loved being part of the cadets. It has helped build their confidence, teamwork skills and friendships.
Lavinia, who is also studying Spanish A-Level, said she believes first aid was a vital skill.
“Saving someone’s life is the greatest gift you can give someone,” she said.
