Priestley College students have achieved excellent results in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, with seven learners recognised for their performance in the prestigious competition.
Bethanni Grundell achieved a Gold award, placing her among the top nine per cent of 15,397 entrants, while Millie Marshall, Jill Fernandez and Tyler Adamson-Fegan received Silver awards, placing them in the top 30 per cent.
Melissa Wood and Amos Leung were awarded Copper certificates, placing them among the top 60 per cent of entrants, while India Sheppard-Baker received a Certificate of Participation.
The Cambridge Chemistry Challenge is designed to stretch students’ understanding of chemistry beyond the A-Level syllabus. Set by experienced teachers and Cambridge chemists, the 90-minute written paper encourages students to apply their knowledge, tackle unfamiliar problems and think about science in the way they might at university.
The results are a fantastic achievement for Priestley’s Chemistry students, recognising their subject knowledge, problem-solving skills and willingness to take on an academic challenge beyond their usual studies.
Congratulations to all seven students on their achievements!
