A charity golf day featuring Priestley students and staff raised nearly £300 for cancer research and the college student fund.
There were 24 golfers taking part in the event at Walton Hall Golf Course with student Harry Carter winning the fun competition.
Harry, a member of Priestley’s Football Academy who studies Coaching & Development at college, made Cancer Research UK his chosen charity.
“It is a cause that touches so many families in Warrington and is deeply personal to me,” said the former Cransley School pupil.
“Losing two of my grandparents to cancer had a profound impact on my family, and supporting vital research is one way to honour their memory while helping others facing the same fight.”
In total, £290 was raised so £145 will be going to the Priestley Student Fund. The charity supports current and former students with their academic or inspirational endeavours.
Harry said the Walton Hall course was challenging, but the players benefitted from a good weather day.
“The shared laughs and the collective spirit made it an enjoyable event,” he said.
Sport Priestley wanted to raise money for the Student Fund because it sponsored them last year to make a trip to the AoC finals more affordable.
Sport Tutor Dominic Bennett, who organised the event, said: “It was great to get some of the students out for a competitive day of sport that was played in great spirit and for a good cause.”
