What do you consider the role of a Progress Tutor to be?
My role as a progress tutor is to consider students’ personal and academic performance. We also act as a point of contact between students, parents and other staff. A lot of the role is based on problem solving, and finding answers to new questions every day. You have to be adaptable in this role, as no two days are the same, and no two students are the same.
What do you love about your job?
I really enjoy getting insights into the student’s lives and interests. They are all setting off on their own paths and I really enjoy finding out about thier interests and motivations.
How do you think the progress tutors make a difference to the students at Priestley?
Students can come and speak to us at any time and can rely on us. Any questions they have, or issues they face, we endeavour to solve and support.
Why did you want to get into education?
I personally really struggled duing my teen years, and I wish I had had someone to support me. I had never worked in education before Priestley, and not cannot imagine working in another field.
