What do you consider the role of a Progress Tutor to be?
My role as a progress tutor is to work with students to help them acheive their very best. To support them when they are struggling, to motivative them and to ensure they achieve their very, very best. In doing so I will also monitor attendance progress and behaviour as this will enable students have everything they need to succeed. The role of a personal tutor is vital, enables students to feel supported in lessons but also with their wellbeing and enrichment. Working in partnership will enable students to make the most of college life and successfully navigate the next stage in their education journey.
What do you love about your job?
My main role is to teach Business Studies, however as a progress tutor my role is to be someone who students feel they can come to if they have a problem, no matter how big or small and to also ensure they have the tools to progress in life after Priestley
Why did you want to get into education?
Teaching was a job that was just a natural progression for me. I have always volunteered and worked with young people within the scouting association and it was always something I enjoyed. Coupling my enthusiasm for working with young people with my subject meant I had the perfect job. My previous role as a Head of Year at a school has given me the skills needed to support students pastorally and it is something I am very passionate about.
