On 7 February, 14 A2 Biology students sat papers for the British Biology Olympiad.
Thousands of students participate nationally and Priestley students achieved one Gold, x4 Silver and x1 Bronze medals alongside other certificates.
To achieve a medal and especially a Gold is very impressive. As a Gold Medal winner, Gustaw Radzikowski will take part in the International Biology Olympiad Team Selection Round 1. This will take place in March at Priestley where he will sit an hour long online exam and he has been provided with a scientific paper to read as source material.
The top sixteen performers from Round 1 and the British Biology Olympiad will be invited to take part in practical training and a further round of selection at Warwick university. The top four students from the team selection rounds and the British Biology Olympiad will be selected to represent the UK at the IBO in Kazakhstan in July.
In the Physics Olympiad Round 1 Competition, we took our full allocation of four places. The students worked through past questions in practice, and we are delighted that they all placed within the competition after sitting the 2 hour and 40 mins paper.
A silver award was given to Stephen Cherterman with Bronze going to Charlotte Glover, William Evans and Finlay Herriman. Our year 12 students are working towards their competition which they will sit in March.Â
