Nine Priestley College students have successfully completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) practice expedition in the Peak District, taking on three days of walking and camping in challenging conditions.
The expedition took place from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October, with the group based at Pindale Farm near Castleton in the Hope Valley. Camping in cold conditions, the students spent three days exploring the surrounding area, developing the teamwork, resilience and outdoor skills needed for their Gold qualifying expedition.
The group completed their expedition on Sunday afternoon with a finish near Mam Tor, one of the Peak District’s best-known landmarks.
Completing the practice expedition is an important milestone for the students as they prepare for their Gold qualifying expedition in July.
Congratulations to all nine students on their achievement, and best of luck as they take on the next stage of their Gold DofE journey.
