How you choose to travel to college can be a huge decision depending on where you live. This blog post explores several ways to travel to college, aiming to help students navigate their options and make informed choices.
Free Direct Bus Services:
Priestley is delighted to announce that its direct bus services will be free again in the academic year starting in September 2024.
This is our way of helping families still dealing with the challenging economic times as we believe a young person’s education should not be restricted by cost.
We currently have nine routes, which include:
Helsby, Frodsham (P1)
Runcorn, Widnes, Penketh (P2&P2A)
Culcheth, Birchwood, Padgate (P4)
Irlam, Cadishead, Hollins Green (P5)
Martinscroft, Woolsten, Bruche, Latchford (P5A)
Goldborne, Lowton, Newton-le-Willows, Winwick (P6)
Lymm, Grappenhall, Stockton Heath (P8)
Weaverham, Cuddington, Northwich, Great Budworth (P9)
Walking or Cycling to College:
For those fortunate enough to live within a close radius of their college, walking or biking presents an eco-friendly and health-conscious choice. We are working towards being a more sustainable college through our Green Baccalaureate Programme and with this option reduces carbon footprints and promotes the importance of physical health. We do have ample bike racks available and there are pedestrian-friendly paths on the route into the college.
There are two train stations close to Priestley College, Warrington Central and Warrington Bank Quay. You can check which train route is best for you through the train line app that you can access here. There is also the chance to get a 1617 Saver card which can give you 50% off rail travel; this often works out cheaper than driving.
Driving to college:
For those who prefer driving to college, carpooling is an excellent way to share costs and reduce the number of vehicles on the road at the college. This is also a brilliant way to catch up with other students on your travels to and from college and can make for a well-needed catch-up after your studies.
