A huge congratulations to our Engineering students who took part in the national Industrial Cadets programme and won the Teamwork Award. 

The award, presented to Libby Wood, Tom Monks, Eliza Fox and Jacob McHugh, recognised their exceptional collaborative efforts as part of the Industrial Cadets Gold Project Award.

 From September to May, the students met weekly with Engineering Tutor Tom Brannon to work on the project as part of the Priestley Plus enrichment activities. 

Their challenge was to design and build a prototype water turbidity testing board to be used at treatment plants. They worked with engineers from Galliford Try – one of the UK’s leading construction groups – to complete the task. 

Libby, who studies Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science, said the team all developed transferable skills during the project. 

“Our teamwork and communication improved, which is definitely something to put on our CVs,” said the former Bridgewater High pupil.
